So I'm on http://www.backstage.com/ checking out a few of the columns to stay motivated about acting and the business and I read the "Secret Agent Man" column. It's always very informative and hysterical because of his bluntness about actors and the biz in general. Well, this particular post was by far my favorite solely for the inspiration it provided. In short, it captured the stories of two actresses who were tired of waiting for their "chance", who took matters in their own hands.

PUT YOURSELF ON. That's the motto we strive to live by because in the end it's not good enough to blame others for our lack of opportunities or for our lack of exposure. If your good at something, then just do it. Start where you are right now and get to moving. Don't worry about the fact that your performing in an apartment or in a broken down theatre. Everyone starts at the beginning, and that beginning is different for all of us. You'll soon see if this is just a faze or if this is a burning passion.
This Sunday is Closing Night for the play " Shh Quiet As Kept". It's amazing that most of the shows, including Closing were sold out in the midst of a recession. Folks probably thought the playwright/producer, Brandi Burks, was stone crazy to proceed. She inspires me to create and to take risks regardless of the odds. I realize that only the most unreasonable folks in this world receive unreasonable rewards. Besides, the greatest thing about being an artist is that creating and performing in and of itself feels AMAZING.
